Let’s be straight with you: we don’t have any open full-time roles right now. Maplestime is a small, independent Canadian newsroom, and we’d rather tell you that honestly than post a made-up job listing.

That said, we’re always happy to meet people who care about Canadian news — and we do work with freelance writers, photographers, and contributors across the country.

Freelance contributors

If you write, shoot, or report — especially on Winnipeg and Manitoba, or on under-covered Canadian stories — we want to hear from you. Send a short note about who you are, links to two or three pieces you’re proud of, and one story idea you’d chase for Maplestime to [email protected].

We pay contributors fairly and on time, and every published piece carries your byline. Read our Editorial Policy first so you know the standards we hold.

Story pitches

Not looking for ongoing work but sitting on a great story? Our tips line is always open: [email protected]. If we pursue it, we’ll credit you however you prefer — including anonymously.

Students and new journalists

Breaking into journalism in Canada is hard, and we remember it. If you’re a student or recent graduate, a thoughtful pitch beats a polished résumé with us every time. Show us you can find a story and tell it straight.
