Nickelback returns with the powerful track “Leave Me Behind” from their latest album, Everything Under The Sun. The Canadian rock veterans blend emotive lyrics with their signature hard‑rock sound, delivering a song that resonates with fans old and new.
The song explores themes of loyalty and protection, portraying a narrator who vows to shield a loved one from past traumas and present struggles. It’s a heartfelt promise to stay by their side, no matter how broken the heart may feel.
When every problem’s got the weight of the world
You know that every time, I’m gonna make it mine just for you
When every nightmare winds up just getting worse
You know that every time, I’m gonna make it mine just like your
Your heart, your heart, your heart
Is broken and tattered, it barely beats
The second it shatters, I’ll find every piece
So, pack up the torture in the back of your mind
Spit out the poison and leave it behind
Just don’t leave me behind (just behind, just behind)
Just don’t leave me behind (just behind, just behind)
Just don’t leave me behind
When every skeleton comes up from the past
You know that every time, I’m gonna make it mine just for you
When every day seems like it might be your last
You know that every time, I’m gonna make it mine just like your
Your heart, your heart, your heart
Is broken and tattered, it barely beats
The second it shatters, I’ll find every piece
So, pack up the torture in the back of your mind
Spit out the poison and leave it behind
Just don’t leave me behind (just behind, just behind)
Just don’t leave me behind (just behind, just behind)
Just don’t leave me behind
You know I’m always gonna keep you safe
You know I’m always just a call away
You know I’m always gonna save the day
And try to fix your heart
You know I’m always gonna keep you safe
You know I’m always just a call away
You know I’m always gonna save the day
And try to fix your heart
Your heart, your heart, your heart
Is broken and tattered, it barely beats (it barely beats)
The second it shatters, I’ll find every piece (find every piece)
So, pack up the torture in the back of your mind (back of your mind)
Spit out the poison and leave it behind
Just don’t leave me behind (just behind, just behind)
Just don’t leave me behind (just behind, just behind)
Just don’t leave me behind
Since its release, “Leave Me Behind” has struck a chord with listeners, many praising its raw emotional delivery and relatable message of unwavering support. The track further cements Nickelback’s ability to blend heartfelt storytelling with their rock roots.
