What Just Happened
Carolina made it 6 to 0 early in the third period. Jankowski finished on a wrist shot on the power play, with Stankoven picking up the assist. The timing hurt Winnipeg twice over. The Jets were already chasing a five goal deficit, and they gave Carolina the man advantage when Perfetti was sent off for cross checking.
How Carolina Built The Lead
Carolina scored once in the first period and four times in the second period before adding the third period power play goal. Sean Walker scored twice in the game. Juha Valimaki, Sebastian Aho and Logan Stankoven also scored for Carolina before Jankowski added the sixth goal. Winnipeg, by contrast, has not found a way past Pyotr Kochetkov in Raleigh.
What This Means For Winnipeg
Winnipeg entered today on an eight game winless run. Nothing in Raleigh so far has changed that story. The Jets now need a remarkable third period comeback just to make the score respectable, let alone to take a point. With 12 minutes and 30 seconds left at the last check, the clock is now as big a problem as the score.
