How the East Final Reached 26 to 20
Montreal built its lead with a strong first half. Jose Maltos Diaz kicked field goals of 40, 30 and 28 yards, Stevie Scott III scored on a three yard run, and Davis Alexander threw an eight yard touchdown pass to D. Ventrelli. Winnipeg answered with a 25 yard Sergio Castillo field goal and the first Perkins touchdown, and the Alouettes led 23 to 10 at halftime.
The third quarter brought one field goal each. Castillo hit from 38 yards for Winnipeg, and Maltos Diaz answered from 41 yards to restore the 13 point gap at 26 to 13.
What Is at Stake in the Fourth Quarter
Montreal finished the regular season 14 and 4, the best record in the CFL, and went a perfect 9 and 0 at home. Winnipeg arrived 9 and 9 as the crossover team from the West after beating Toronto 25 to 22 in the East Semifinal.
The winner plays in the 113th Grey Cup at McMahon Stadium in Calgary on Sunday, November 15. No crossover team has ever reached the Grey Cup, and Winnipeg is now one touchdown away from changing that with 13:30 left to play.
