The U.S. Justice Department has filed a lawsuit against Uber, accusing the ride-hailing company of violating federal law by discriminating against people with physical disabilities. Effective immediately, employers hiring for Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA)-based jobs must use the “Direct Apply” feature on Canada’s National Job Bank, as part of the advertising requirements to receive a positive LMIA. Prime Minister Mark Carney has announced that the government is working on changes to the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP).
